Bonding

The bonding procedure in dentistry utilizes a tooth-colored composite resin and is used for a variety of structural as well as cosmetic purposes. By using dental composite resin bonding, chipped or broken teeth can be restored, fill in gaps, and reshape your smile.

The bonding process involves the surface of the tooth being roughened and a conditioning liquid applied. This helps the bonding material adhere to the tooth. The resin is then applied, molded and smoothed to the desired shape. After the material is hardened with ultraviolet light or laser, your dentist will further shape, and polish it to mimic the natural surface of the tooth- including color, shape, and size of your natural tooth enamel- improving the appearance of teeth with superficial damage and unsightly imperfections.

Laminates and Veneers

Dental veneers (sometimes called porcelain veneers or dental porcelain laminates) are very thin, custom-made shells of tooth-colored materials, designed to cover the front surface of teeth to improve your smile. These shells are bonded to the front of the teeth changing color, shape, size or length.

Dental veneers can be made from porcelain or from resin composite materials. Porcelain veneers resist stains better than resin and better mimic the light reflecting properties of natural teeth.

Laminates are routinely used to fix discolored teeth, worn down teeth, broken or shipped teeth, misaligned, uneven or irregularly shaped teeth and teeth with gaps between them.

Dental Implants

A dental implant is an artificial tooth root replacement and is used to support restorations that resemble a tooth or a group of teeth. There are several types of dental implants; the most widely used being the Osseo integrated implant, where titanium screw (resembling a tooth root is fused into bone when osteoblasts grow on and into the rough surface of the implanted titanium. This forms a structural and functional connection between the living bone and the implant.

Implant surgery is typically performed as an outpatient procedure under general anesthesia or local anesthesia and can take several visits over time.

All Porcelain Crowns

A crown is a dental restoration that covers your entire tooth. It used to be that any crown had to have some metal in it for strength. Today, we can make them out of all porcelain, meaning they look very natural.

Typically, the dental crown procedure is complete in two stages. During the first state, your dentist will remove portions of your natural tooths structure to accommodate the dental crown. An impression is made and sent to the lab, where your dental crown is created. A temporary crown might be placed between visits to ensure the most natural look and feel. When you return to the dentist, your new custom dental crown is securely bonded in place. Non-Prep Veneers

Root Canal Therapy

Root Canals are the commonly used term for the main canals within the dentin of the tooth. These are part of the natural cavity within a tooth that consists of the dental pulp chamber, the main canals, and sometimes more intricate anatomical branches that may connect the root canals to each other or to the root surface of the tooth.

When the pulp become infected due to a deep cavity or fracture that allows bacteria to seep in, it can die. Damaged or dead pulp causes pressure that cannot be relieved from inside the tooth. Pain in the tooth is commonly felt when biting, chewing and sensitivity to hot or cold.

A root canal is a treatment used to repair and save the infected or decayed tooth. During the procedure, the nerve and pulp is removed and the inside of the tooth is cleaned and sealed. A root canal typically involves three appointments.

Periodontal Treatment (surgical and non-surgical)

The leading cause of tooth loss in adults is gum disease. The main cause of gum disease is plaque, bacteria that forms and attacks the gums surrounding the teeth and the bone supporting your teeth.

Gingivitis is the early stage of gum diseases. Your gums may be red, swollen and bleed easily. Untreated gingivitis can lead to more advanced stage of the disease called periodontitis.

Periodontitis occurs when plaque eventually spreads below the gum line and attacks the tissue and bone supporting the teeth. The gums begin to separate from the teeth, forming pockets where more bacteria can accumulate. If left untreated, these pockets deepen, and more and more tissue and bone is destroyed until the tooth becomes loose and requires extraction.

Only your dentist can tell if you have periodontitis with a periodontal exam. Periodontal Treatment requires short and long term strategies. A Gentle Dental doctor will consider your individual situation, and address your treatment options with you, including designing a home care program to maintain your ultimate goal of dental health. Gentle Dental utilizes dental lasers, the most advanced technology, as well as other treatments, to treat periodontal disease.

Implant dentistry has become the preferred method for tooth replacement for many reasons. Dental implants do no depend on your surrounding teeth for support, and they look and function much like normal teeth. The Dental Implants prevent the surrounding teeth from shifting out of place, and prevents bone loss.

Complete and Partial Dentures

Often referred to as false teeth, dentures are necessary when you have all of your upper or lower teeth removed. Complete dentures replace both top and bottom teeth while partial dentures can either are just the upper or lower teeth.

Dentures are constructed using flesh colored plastic base material. Natural looking teeth are inserted into the base material. Dentures allow you to maintain your smile and eat normally.

Dental Fillings

Many of us have experienced cavities, which call for the removal of the decay and to fill in the area that was removed in order to prevent further decay and strengthen the affected tooth. There have been many advances in the material used to fill in cavities. Many people still have malgam or gold filling restorations. Now there are composite resin dental fillings, which are still durable but unlike amalgam or gold fillings, the resin dental fillings blend in with the natural coloring of your teeth and are a great option for keeping your smile beautiful.
